Diabetes Treatment
Although having diabetes isn't a good thing by any means, been diagnosed of this condition is far better than not been diagnosed. The reason for this is, once you have been diagnosed, you now understand why you have been feeling such symptoms as you have, and can now make a conscious effort to live a healthier lifestyle as part of your diabetes treatment. After all, a healthy lifestyle forms a huge part of any diabetes treatment and is more often than not the deciding factor in how well you cope with your diabetes.
Besides ensuring you take any medication prescribed to you, the two main factors in your diabetes treatment are diet and exercise.
Diet:
In Type 1 Diabetes, insulin injections are taken. Because the exact amount of insulin present in a Type 1 Diabetic is obviously only the amount which has been administered by injection, a doctor will be able to tell you how much carbohydrates you should be consuming per injection. It is important this balance isn't upset, and there should always be the correct amount of carbohydrates consumed per injection.
In Type 2 Diabetes, having a fairly controlled intake of carbohydrates is also important as you want to work on keeping your glucose levels as normal as possible.
Exercise:
Having a good exercise regime is crucial to living with diabetes. The whole point of balancing insulin with glucose levels is after all, to enable an individual to use glucose as energy once more. Failure to exercise simply means the glucose stays where it is – in your body, building up once more.
Each individual case of diabetes is different and your doctor will prescribe you both the correct medication, and also the correct advice on how you as an individual case can best utilize diet and exercise for your strain or type of diabetes. |
